Recognizing Idaho Contraception Week and World Contraception Day
As World Contraception Day approaches on September 26, the Idaho Contraceptive Education Network (ICEN) is excited to celebrate the first-ever Idaho Contraception Week, a statewide week of recognition and awareness taking place September 20 through 26.
World Contraception Day was first established in 2007 to raise awareness about accessible, affordable contraception and the importance of reliable reproductive health information. For two decades now, communities worldwide have recognized this day to encourage awareness and education. This year, ICEN is joining that same effort, but in a new and exciting way.
Since first launching in 2023, ICEN has worked to provide Idahoans with reliable, accurate, clear, and research-backed information on contraception and healthy family planning. Addressing common misconceptions and increasing awareness about the role contraceptives play in the lives of individuals, families, and communities. Idaho Contraception Week is expanding that mission and making a dedicated week of education, advocacy, and conversation through community engagement.
Throughout the week, Idaho businesses, organizations, and community leaders will participate by displaying educational materials, offering donated and discounted items, and recognizing the week through local municipal proclamations designating September 20-26 as Idaho Contraception Week.
